A riveting and heartbreaking page-turner.

Jennette McCurdy is a wickedly sharp writer with a distinct voice and tone. I personally enjoyed how short the chapters were and it made for a quick read. I think this is a great way of approaching an autobiography – not a long-winded re-telling of every minute detail, but rather flash experiences that encapsulate the overall experience like lightning in a bottle.

Words cannot capture the complicated relationship of love and hate that Jennette had with her mom. It is a startlingly clear looking glass into what it’s like to be trapped in an abusive relationship. A must-read, because no review can do justice to what Jennette has woven here.

May this only be the beginning of Jennette’s writing and directing career she so desperately yearned for. She deserves every bit of success that comes her way – on her terms.
